If you are having a heart attack, call 9-1-1. This is the message that the family of 91-year-old Norma Brown received loud and clear on Saturday. The elderly woman, who had been driven to Winchester District Memorial Hospital by her daughter and son-in-law, was denied assistance by hospital staff, even though she was in a parked car just outside their emergency room door. Winchester District Memorial Hospital has launched an investigation into the incident, saying they have no such written policy that would forbid staff from going outside to help. Brown eventually called 9-1-1, and an ambulance arrived in less than 10 minutes to assist the patient inside.
